PROJECT IMPACT
Project IMPACT- Inclusion Made Practical for ALL Children and Teachers – is a three-year project based out of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Project IMPACT is a three-year project based out of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The purpose of Project IMPACT is to support teachers through coaching experiences to design grade aligned reading comprehension instruction, use research-based practices, and generalize practices for use in inclusive settings.
IMPACT intends to achieve four goals:
1. Improve outcomes in the comprehension skills of students with intellectual disability.
2. Support teachers to align instruction to grade level content standards and promote access to the general curriculum.
3. Develop strategies and tools to support implementation of the comprehension model in inclusive classrooms.
4. Provide intensive coaching to support implementation of model in both special education and general education settings.
Project IMPACT has partnered with Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools during the 2019-2020 school year to implement the first iteration of the project model. Please check the page frequently for new information, resources, and updates on the project.
